Shadows

World War Two, December 1944, a formation of US B-17 Flying Fortress Bombers are returning to Britain after a bombing mission over Germany. The thick cloud cover is making the return flight hazardous so the formation is broken up and diverted to various airbases. Two of the B-17s are approaching airbase 486, Greenham Common, when one aircraft disastrously strikes the other... all but two of the US airmen are killed.

Shadows is a short memorial film being made to commemorate the sixteen young men who lost their lives in the fight to bring WWII to a close.

The story is dramatised in the BBC Radio Berkshire play 'The Great West Road' by Ade Morris, which features the character of one of the airmen 2nd Lt John (Jimmy) Mockus.

Below is a link to an audio file of a recording (02/04/08) from the BBC Radio Berkshire Morning Show which featured an interview with Sean Caveille in the BBC Bristol studios and the daughter of Jimmy Mockus - Mary Mockus-Shipler (who was an unborn baby at the time of her father's death) who was speaking from her home in Las Vegas USA
