About a year later in 1968 and while still at school, I met Jeff Davies (drums) who took over drums from Dusty Miller. We had a growing repertoire and did our first few gigs at youth clubs and parties. We had very small and underpowered amps which we shared and all the vocals went through these amps too!

After a period, interest seemed to wane and Barry and Dave decided to cal it a day. Eventually I went to see what Jeff was up to and found that he had drastically improved! Jeff's Dad was the manager of Thatcham's Beverly Club and he organised a new band for us. Jeff introduced me to Paul Bragington who played organ. We formed a trio and called it Final Decision. At ages 13 and 14 we thought of ourseves as the youngest band around.

Jack got us gigs at The Beverly club for which we actually got paid and we appeared with named acts like Adge Cutler and the Wurzells, Kenny Ball and Acka Bilk.

Our name was getting around and the local newspaper did a small feature on us. In the article we said we were looking to recruit a new girl singer. After auditions we decided to offer the job to Kate Sloan. The newspaper article also rekindled interest from Barry and Dave who came back and before we knew it we had a six piece band! Jeff's dad Jack provided a Doormobile van (always breaking down!) and we started to do regular paid gigs all around the district. Dave only stayed for a short while and so we were down to a 5 piece, but improving daily developing our playing and also our 3 part harmonies..
