Doug Buller (sax) had been running The Chordets since 1962 and there had been literally hundreds of muso's passing thru'. The Chordets were more of a dance band with their big brass sound but still played the latest commercial charts songs.
These included Marcus Alfred (Trumpet) and Burt Muir (sax and flute),
Eddie Sloan (trumpet), Peter James (trumpet) Martin Dixon (vocals), Nigel Reveller (drums), Paul Trubridge (bass), Dave Todd (drums),
Dave Shoal (guitar), Andy Whitmore (now a big recording producer for
East 17, Danny Minogue, Lemar and Alexander O'Neill just a few of his named artists!), Steve Marshall (bass), Dave Barker (keyboards),
Graham Canning (guitar), Ken Turton (sax), Malcolm Hammerstein (Drums), Terry Chappel (keyboards), Dave Corbett (keyboards) Steve Clarke (keyboards and Musical Director of the stage show Les Miserables in the west end), Alex Lawrie (tenor sax), John Marter (drums ex-Voyager), Mark Carter (drums), Andy Carter (drums), Humbie Bradley (drums), Bob Rolf (Bass), Barry Keene (drums), Amber Sinclair (vocals) and not surprisingly Derrek Perris on bass yet again!
During my time in the Chordets I made 4 life-long musician friends
These are the incredible Keith Guster (drums), the talented Martin Lawrie (keyboards), the-one-and-only (and thank god there is only one!)
Martin Dixon (vocals), and the ancient Spud Cox (bass, all the way from Basingstoke!)
These guys have stuck with me through thick-and-thin and are my 'brothers'.
